vintage mini cards
it was another lazy Sunday here at our house. that's probably a good thing, though, seeing as how Hoss had to go into work at midnight last night for a software upgrade and didn't get home until 8am. we were all feeling burned out by Friday; i had hoped to have another post for you before now but i've been pushing myself hard lately and needed some downtime. with Hoss resting up for last night, i decided to do the same and i'm feeling much better now.
i have another set of holiday mini cards to show you today. these are not quite as simple as the first ones i shared but they do still use the older supplies. i think that if it's done right, the products don't feel outdated. both of these cards are meant to look aged and the focal points--the Melissa Frances skating card and poinsettia tag--are also meant to have a vintage feel.
i layered two burgundy flowers from Prima together and glittered the edges to dress them up a bit. the large scalloped circle is punched from an old Making Memories patterned paper. i loved it when i bought it and i still love it now--those glittery red poinsettias are so pretty! it sits on top of a piece of aged A Christmas Carol book print and some fun, shiny gold trim.
i stamped a poinsettia on the inside corner and glittered that up as well, adding an adhesive gem detail as a finishing touch. there's no such thing as too much glitter at Christmastime, right?!
the second card uses some of the same products, like the book print and Melissa Frances tag. i used a cream card base instead of kraft this time, though, and the red flowers are Maya Road (i think!).
i cut the word "merry" from book print and glued it onto a tiny jeweler's tag to accent the flower. i'll probably be using things like that a lot this season, especially on mini cards and package tags.
that's all i've got for today, but i have a lot lined up for this week...i had a fun tutorial on the Crate Paper blog last week and i'll be sharing it on my blog, as well. i have a couple of extra projects to share with it so if you saw the tutorial over at CP and enjoyed it, you won't want to miss it here! we'll be celebrating Mr. Bagubian's birthday on Wednesday, i'll have a Little #2 update, and maybe a couple more cards. whew! a lot going on so be sure to check back! as always, thanks so much for stopping by!
