The Stamp Market :: November Release :: Floral Notecard Set

I hope you are doing well on this fine Tuesday!  It's November 5th, which makes it release day over at The Stamp Market--that's always one of my most favorite days of the month!  There's so much coming out today, including SIX new ink colors!!  I actually didn't use any ink except watermark on my projects today, but I used the heck out the new color ink refills!

One of the sets coming out today offers stamps that are perfect for packaging up notecards, and at this time of year, you've got to start thinking about gifts for everyone on your list.  Handmade cards is a great gift because people always need them.  I created a trio of thank you notes to box up and give away and, of course, I had to make some coordinating packaging to go with them.

For my cards, I used the Bounty of Blooms stamps along with the awesome Lots of Thanks stamp set and dies.  A thank you note is always a good idea and if you already had a few on hand, perhaps you'd be more encouraged to send them out, right?  So thank you notes make a great gift!  I stamped the images from Bounty of Blooms and embossed them in gold, then watercolored them with some of the new Stamp Market colors like Coral Reef, Peach, and Rusty.  I love all 3 of the new hues so much!  (And there are also Black, Navy, and No-Line inks releasing today!)

On the first card, I stamped the large floral image partially twice on opposite corners of my paper panel.  After embossing with gold powder, I painted in the flowers using the ink refills for the new colors.  I wanted the leaves to be accents in an ochre-yellow shade so I mixed a few drops of Citrine with a couple drops of Rusty and some water, mixing well.  I was aiming for an autumn palette and the ochre makes a beautiful addition!

I embossed the 'thank you' stamp in gold, as well, die cut it, and then painted around it with a light touch of Blush Pink.  The decorated panel sits atop another panel of Blush Pink painted cardstock.

The next card features the smaller single stamps from Bounty of Blooms.  I put them all together on a large acrylic block, then stamped a repeating pattern.  This was followed by heat embossing and watercoloring.  After coloring in all the images, I carefully painted all the white space with Blush Pink, then added the large 'thank you' die cut.  Underneath the panel is a layer of Coral Reef painted paper.

The final card was actually the first one I did, before I mixed up the ochre for the leaves.  The leaves here are Citrine only (no added-Rusty).  But it was after this card that I decided to try to achieve the orangey-yellow.  This card features the large floral all by itself, with some space at the bottom for a stamped and die cut 'thanks'.  The background is painted with Blush Pink again, and to bring extra attention to the sentiment, I layered it with a length of Bubble Gum Pink cotton ribbon.  The backing panel here was painted with a mix of Peach and Blush Pink.

Once I had my card set completed, I wanted to use Notecards for You to create a little packaging.  I stamped the round label, decorating it with 2 small florals that are a part of the NFY set, but perfectly coordinate with the Bounty of Blooms set (I don't think that's a coincidence ;).  I stamped 'paper hugs' in the center, embossed it all in gold, and die cut the label with the ribbon slides.  The florals and emblem are watercolored, of course, to match the cards.

I wanted to add a tag, though, because what's a package without one?!  The message 'notecards handmade for you' fit nicely on the larger tag from Made with Love, and placed toward the bottom, left some room for a few partial florals.  I colored the florals in a Peach/Coral Reef mix.

After tucking the cards into a plastic card box with some matching envelopes, it was time to place my ribbon slide and tag.  I chose bright Marigold ribbon to tie around the box, and tied the tag on with some metallic thread.  It's simple but pretty and I don't have to wrap it (not that I'd mind if I did!)--it's ready to give just the way it is!
