Ink to Paper :: November Mini Release

Hi all!  I'm here tonight sharing a couple of cards I made with products from the Ink to Paper November mini release.  Just because it's mini, though, doesn't mean you won't love it (I hope)!  Most of the dies happen to come from me and we're introducing a new series today so that's exciting!

The new series is called Border Bling and as the name suggests, it's all about borders.  Ink to Paper co-owner Julie came up with the idea and we're offering a frame base that covers the size of an A2 card front.  It cuts out a plain frame for your card which you can use 'as is' or you can choose to use it with some of the other Border Bling dies.  This month, we're bringing you a stitched border and string lights.  Each of those designs comes on a mount that will fit right into the Border Bling Base so you can choose to do all of your cutting in one go if you want to.  And if not, you can cut out the frame first, then situate the second die over your die cut and run it through your machine that way.

Creating something fun and colorful with the String Lights border die was my goal here.  I chose pretty hues from Ink to Paper's lineup and turned them into a string of bulbs that I'd happily wrap around my own Christmas tree.  Pairing that with embossed and die cut words from Winter Warmth adds extra color and a dose of good tidings for just about anyone on this year's Christmas card list!

I cut out a frame base in kraft, and then 2 string lights; one in white and one in kraft.  I plugged the white lights into the empty kraft outline, then adhered the frame to a white card panel.  The string lights die also comes with a few individual bulb dies so you can add a little extra color to your string if you wish, as I've done here.

One of the other new collections today, called Winter Warmth, features the beautiful words and dies that you see in the center of the card.  I matched each word to a color of bulb I used--Sweet Blush, Limeade Ice, Pure Poppy, and Aqua Mist--then heat embossed with white powder.  I lined them up in the opening of the frame and adhered them with foam tape to give them some dimension.  I added a pink bow at the bottom to finish the card.

String Lights Supplies:
Stamps: Winter Warmth
Ink: Sweet Blush, Limeade Ice, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, watermark
Paper: Sweet Blush, Limeade Ice, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, Classic Kraft, white
Dies: Border Bling: Frame Base, Border Bling: String Lights, Winter Warmth
Other: white embossing powder, foam tape, ribbon

My next card features Winter Warmth and its beautiful images of greenery.  This card came about accidentally.  I have a scrap piece of colored cardstock that I test watermark-inked images on before I stamp them 'for real' and this piece also happened to be the test run for the Border Bling Frame Base and Stitched dies.  After cutting, the scrap frame was full of randomly stamped images and I actually liked the way it looked!  I stamped many of the images and words from Winter Warmth in Melon Berry ink on matching cardstock, then cut out the frame with the stitched border for a similar appearance.

I stamped and die cut several greens, berries, and pinecones to layer around the bottom portion of the frame.  A Pale Peony color-washed backdrop fills the inside of the frame, and I've stamped 'Season's Greetings' in the upper right corner of that.  The stamp set it comes from is aptly named--Season's Greetings--and features several holiday sentiments in pretty fonts.

After arranging the die cuts around the lower part of the frame, I gently curled them forward, slightly lifting them off the paper.  The final touch again is seam binding, this time in gray.

Season's Greetings Supplies:
Stamps: Winter Warmth, Season's Greetings

Other: Pale Peony re-inker, black embossing powder, ribbon

With the candle images from Winter Warmth, I set out to create something soft and peaceful.  Burning candles during the year's colder months is always a cozy experience, especially when the lights have been turned down low and the soft glow radiates around the room.  Nature's elements like the pinecones and branches from Winter Warmth also help to instill that peaceful feeling.

This was the perfect opportunity to use the Inside Greetings quote about the Lord's love finding and keeping you warm, which I stamped on the inside of the card.
