Ink to Paper :: Transformation Tuesday :: Happy Halloween!

Hey there, friends!  I'm happy you're joining me for today's Ink to Paper Transformation Tuesday!  It's officially October, so what better way to kick off the month than with a little Halloween card?  I'm transforming a fall card I made back in late August, and while it may not seem like much sense to turn an autumn card into a Halloween card, it's a BIG transformation!

It seems funny to think that the original card, with its pretty pastel leaves against a light background, would make for a spooky Halloween card, but it really does!  The way the Lovely Leaves die cuts and Fall For Foliage border frame the center of the card, it's like peering into a window.  When the background is black, covered in a spiderweb, and the leaves have turned to a late autumn rusty orange color, it's more like looking into a window in a haunted house!

I swapped out the white card base for a black one and, while the middle of the original white card is plain, I thought it would be much more fun to have the center of the Caught In My Web stamp peeking out under all the leaves.  I stamped it in Watermark ink and embossed it with clear powder for something subtle, but noticeable--kind of like how an actual spiderweb can only be seen from certain angles in the right light.

Instead of a glittery gold Fall For Foliage border, I made it silver.  The leaves on the first card were made with some of my favorite inks for a soft and sweet color palette, but these leaves are all about the deep orange and red you see just before the leaves fall off the trees.  I blended Canyon Clay and Pure Poppy inks onto my die cuts with a blending brush for the color variation, then arranged the leaves around the card to frame the center.

Finally, I chose a Halloween sentiment, matting it in silver glitter and Ripe Avocado cardstocks.  This was a really fun transformation and I hope you enjoyed it, too!  I've already spent so much time making Halloween cards and treats this year, and I didn't even know I was that into Halloween!  It's definitely a fun holiday to create for!
