festive friday {on sunday}!

hey there!  remember last post when i said that i had some exciting news to share?  i was recently invited to join the Design Team over at Festive Friday!  i could not be more excited about this because it's a chance to celebrate Christmas all year long.  after losing my mom in November, i wasn't feeling at all festive this Christmas--nothing at all like last year.  so i didn't do too much holiday creating and i'm thrilled that i now get to make Christmas-y things all year!  thank you so much, Meredith, for this fantastically festive opportunity!

if you are unfamiliar with FF, it's a challenge blog with the idea that every two weeks, you will be inspired to make a holiday card or tag or whatever tickles your fancy.  and by the end of the year, perhaps you will have gotten a great head start on your Christmas cards.  every two weeks there will be a beautiful new photo and some fun ideas from the DT.  and, if you're feeling up to it, you can link up your project to the FF blog for everyone to see!

the first challenge of the year is up and running and the photo this week is this lovely red wintry barn that really makes me miss the snow!  (i apologize to all of you in colder parts of the country/world because i know you're so over it by now!)

i wanted a mostly white or light neutral background for the card with pops of red and green.  i also used a lot of texture--glitter branches, lace, tulle, doilies, and burlap--because there's a lot of texture in the picture--snow, wood, greens.  the bit of burlap also ties into the rustic quality that the barn evokes.  {this will NOT be the last burlap flag you see from me, either; they're one of my new favorite things!}

i hope you've been sufficiently inspired and if not, there's much more to see over on the Festive Friday blog.  you have about a week and a half to play along!  i hope i see you there!
