Ink to Paper :: May 2020 Release :: Day Three

Yay!  We're on Day Three of the Ink to Paper May release introductions, which means only a couple more days until these fun new products are available in the Ink to Paper shop!  We're focusing on the dads today and tomorrow, because they deserve a little love, too :)

First up is a cute set called Owl Always Love You, and you must be able to guess what that's about, right?!  That set is paired with another stamp set, featuring Jen Campbell's beautiful script called His, and features all the titles for the men in our lives--husband, brother, father, uncle, son, etc.

My card is one with my dad in mind, as if it was coming from my children, since they call him Papa (and he thinks he's a real hoot!!).  I created one of the larger owls on a wooden stump with two littler owls looking up to him.

You'll also notice a cool frame in the background, which I'll be telling you all about in a moment.  I paired the browns and burnt oranges with the livelier Limeade Ice and pale gray-blue patterned paper.  'Papa' is embossed in black directly on the card.

Next up, I have 3 projects to share that feature the new Border Bling: Twigs frame dies and Inside Greetings; Father's Day stamp set.  The Twigs frame is so cool!  It comes in a larger rectangle design and a small oval design so it's very versatile.

My first card features a trio of the frames layered together in different colors and patterns for depth and interest.  I chose a color palette found in nature--Pinefeather, Dark Chocolate, and Saffron Spice--to highlight the sticks/twig theme.  There is also a set of small leaves that accompanies the frames, and I stamped them with some of the brushed flowers from yesterday's Floral Delicacies stamps to create some extra detail.

Finally, I stamped my sentiment, one of the Inside Greetings: Father's Day messages, in one of the oval frame inlays, which is then accented with a contrasting frame and the stamped leaves.

My second card has a much different color palette, and all-over feel, even though it is similar in design.  I used some turquoise patterned paper for the rectangle frame, and used the inlay as part of my design as well.  Don't throw them out after you've die cut the frames--they're great for sentiments!  I further cut an oval frame out of the center of that piece and filled it in with a Saffron Spice frame and white inlay.

The inlay is where I stamped my message, choosing 'husband' from the His stamp set and a die cut 'Happy Father's Day' from Owl Always Love You.

The inside features another Father's Day message stamped and embossed on Saffron Spice card stock with a white twig frame.

I used lots of different patterns and colors for my final card.  To do this successfully, choose simple designs and alternate them as you build the card up (solid, pattern, solid, pattern, etc).  Even the leaves are cut from patterned paper here.

I thought one of the little owls from Owl Always Love You would look cute perched on a twig branch so I cut apart one of the rectangle frames and made him one, weaving it through the leafy branch die cut from Floral Delicacies.
