Spellbinders: Cut & Emboss Folders w/ Jane Davenport Palette Pastel

Hey there!  We just got back from an amazing vacation out in the desert--it was quiet and relaxing--and HOT--but just what the whole family needed.  We unplugged for a little bit, spent our entire days together, and had so much fun!  It's back to reality now, and for me, that means creating and sharing!

I recently had the opportunity to try out some new Cut & Emboss Folders from Spellbinders.  They're so cool and make cardmaking so easy and fun!  I also got to try out some Jane Davenport Mineral Eyes Palette Pastels, which are really beautiful.  I combined the folders and colors with a few remnants from my June card kit to make a trio of mini cards.

I started by adding a bit of water to my pastels (I'm not sure if that's a thing people do or not, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyhow!!).  The result was a shimmery, soft color base for each of my cards.

Then I die cut each one; there are two Moroccan View cards and one Botanical Frame.  You can cut and emboss your card panel with one pass through your die-cutting machine, which, as I said, really makes these a dream to use.  They're a good size, too, and can be matted to fit an A2 size card.

My first card was made with the Morroccan View folder, and colored with the pinkish Red Jade shade from the Pastel Palette.  I wanted something fun to show through the cut outs so I backed the front of the card with glitter card stock.  The 'you are my sunshine' sticker is from the June Super Chill card kit.  A couple of small gold sequins and a metallic gold bow complete this card.

I didn't want to add too many details to any of the cards in order to showcase the beautiful designs created with the embossing folders.  There are so many details, and then when you add the shimmery color medium, you can get away with using only a handful of added elements.

The blue card is also cut and embossed with the Moroccan View folder, and the color is called Apatite.  To fill the cutouts this time, I chose navy blue lace and allowed it to peek around the edges of the card front, as well.  The pink butterfly and sentiment banner can be found in the Super Chill die cuts Add-On for June.

I chose Citrine as the color for my final card and the Botanical Frame for the cut and embossed design.  There is gold glitter again shining through the floral windows.  'Oh Joy' is a sentiment die from the June card kit again, and the purple banner is found there, too.  I've accented the card with a bit of cream lace and a mint-colored sequin.

If you're interested in getting some of these Cut & Emboss Folders, or the Jane Davenport color mediums, you can find them in the Spellbinders store.  There are other folders to choose from, as well as other palettes and tools to use with your color mediums.  Thank you so much for stopping by today--it feels like I haven't posted in awhile, but it's only been a week!
